Martin
Gerry Martin – President

Gerry Martin has been teaching and managing Corporate Fitness programs in San Diego County YMCA for 18 years. Gerry is a past Board Member of the Downtown YMCA. Gerry was the assistant race director for the YMCA Breakers Run. Gerry is a certified YMCA Physical Fitness Instructor. Gerry's passion for family fitness has helped her spearhead many project including the Breakers run and the YMCA Family Fitness Camp 1979-1992. Gerry was an integral part of the Roger and Gerry Team, which produced many of San Diego 's early fun runs.

David A. Cain – Vice President

A Financial Services Professional with New York Life delivering insurance and financial solutions for individuals and business in California, David currently volunteers with Cancer Survivorship San Diego, is an Ambassador with the Oceanside Chamber and a participating board member of the La Costa 35 Athletic Club. He served 10 years as a voting board member of Big Brothers of North San Diego County. David has been an active volunteer day of event for the first four turkey trotsDavid Cain

Richard Muscio - Secretary

Founder of the O'side Turkey Trot and the Move Your Feet Before You Eat Foundation, Richard is an avid marathon runner and baseball player. Richard is on the Board of Trustees of the National Steinbeck Center Museum in Salinas. Richard's CPA firm - Friedman, Brannen, LLP, was San Diego's first CPA firm to specialize in estate planning and design of intra-family gifting programs.  Currently, Richard is a private trustee and charitable gift planning consultant. A member of the advisory team for The Center for Wealth & Legacy.

 

 


Gary Nessim – Treasurer

Gary is President of HomeLife Village Realtors and one of the founding sponsors of the O'side Turkey Trot. Gary is the past president of the Carlsbad Historical Society and past member of the of the Community Resource Center- Carlsbad advisory board. Gary has been a recreational runner, biker and tennis player for over 30 years.

Roger Martin – Board Member

Roger Martin spent 38 yars with the YMCA where he was know as “Mr. Cardiovascular Fitness,“ for many years. A pioneer in the San Diego Running community he was the founder of the YMCA Breakers 10 Miler and the Resolution Day Run. He remains active in the San Diego Senior Olympics where he serves a Board Member and Volleyball Commissioner. Roger has completed 25 marathons and is the former Associate Executive Director of the San Diego Downtown YMCA

Kathy Kinane – Executive Director

President of Kinane Events and Founder of the O'side Turkey Trot, Kathy has been involved with sports and fitness for over 30 years. The Former Head Women's Track Coach at UCSB, Kathy has a MA in Exercise Physiology and is Certified by the American College of Sports Medicine as a Fitness Instructor. She has been recognized by Competitor Magazine and Race Director of the year in 2000. OC Metro Magazine recognized her as Top 25 Hot People in Orange County. Kinane Events has managed over 215 events and raised over $28 million dollars for the community since 1992.

Ruben Sandoval – Board Member

Retired Oceanside Police Department and Ruben has been an elite long distance runner for over 20 years. Ruben is the captain of the OPD Baker to Vegas Relay and has been an integral leader in finding solutions to the challenges that face the youth of Oceanside.

Lisa Scolman – Board Member

Co – Founder of the Oceanside Turkey Trot and General Manager of Kinane Events. Lisa has been actively involved in the youth sports programs for over 20 years. An avid runner and soccer mom, she has been an integral part of fundraising for many sports programs and community service providers for over 12 years. As race director for the Liberty Run walk she helped raise over $100,000 over the 6 year period.

Rachelle Lash – Staff – Community Liason

Rachelle Lash, born and raised here in San Diego, is an energetic health enthusiast, whose hobbies include running marathons and competing in triathlons. After the birth of her last child four years ago, she has spent each year training and participating in endurance events with Team in Training, where she was a Captain for four consecutive seasons. She currently lives in Oceanside, where she is married and the mother of three children for whom she volunteers many hours of her time at their schools. Her passion for children's health and fitness led her to spearhead and coordinate a Mile Fun Run at Old Mission Montessori School for the past three years. This same passion has also led her in the direction of becoming the Founder and volunteer Program Director for both the Roadrunners Running Club at Palmquist Elementary School and the Mileage Running Club at Old Mission Montessori School. Both of these schools, one public one private, are located in Oceanside, where Rachelle hopes to implement more school running club programs.

Achievements: secretary of interact club (2007-2008), vice president of health academy (2007-2008), treasurer of NHS (2007-2008), honor roll (2005-present), most improved in orchestra (2006), coaches' award for volleyball (2007), state finalist for California Health Occupation  Students of America (2008).

Sofia Lopez
grade: 11
birthday: December 19,1990
Extracurriculars: Oceanside High Dance Team, National Honors Society, girard prep scholars, link crew, varsity girl's soccer, and teacher's aid at Saint Mary's Star of the Sea sunday school
Achievements: presidential scholar award (2007), honor roll (2005-present), union tribune scholastic award (2008), CSF (sophomore year-present), and rookie of the year (2007).

Christine Fuentes

grade: 10
birthday: November 19,1991
Extracurriculars: playing soccer for Oceanside High School and for a competitive league, dancer for the OHS Dance Team, OHS JV Swim Team, and an altar server for my community church.
Achievements: accepted into National Honors Society, passed the  CASHEE with a 450  in the math portion, and captain for the OHS JV Soccer Team.
